3D Printer Can Build Houses. Homeless Population Still Can’t Afford Printers

Captain’s Blog – Stardate 51003.13.0657

A company in Italy has created an enormous printer capable of printing solid objects. The printer can read construction blueprints, and print out the pieces of the building one layer at a time.

I don’t know about you, but I hate running out of ink on my Epson. If I’m adding a new wing to my house, how much is the ink going to cost on this thing?

And how does this invention help the world’s homeless population?
At $200,000 a pop, these printers aren’t exactly affordable. Until they get the cost of materials down so it’s cheaper than cardboard, I don’t see my local homeless dude printing out a new condo any time soon.

TECH TIP OF THE WEEK

This week I’ll teach some of my elderly readers how to get their old computers on the internet. I got a letter from Tom from Staten Island, which read:

Dear Mario,

I would like to join the internet.
I will probably need to upgrade my computer with a modem, as it’s over 20 years old now. ( I have enclosed a photograph of my setup)
How can I get my computer onto the internet?
Thank you sir.

Tom
Staten Island

Dear Tom,

Let me help you get your computer on the internet, with the help of my gramma.
Here you go!

Mario Out.
