Today, August 28, the 2026 China International Big Data Industry Expo, or Big Data Expo for short, officially opened in Guiyang, Guizhou Province. As one of the most authoritative and influential international events in the global big data sector, this year's Expo is themed "Tokens: A New Pathway to Unlocking the Value of Data Elements." It focuses on cutting-edge explorations in the market-oriented allocation reform of data elements and comprehensively showcases the latest achievements in the deep integration of big data technology with the real economy. According to CCTV reporters Liu Baixuan and Yin Ping, the Expo will run until August 30, offering the public a comprehensive view of the pulse of innovation in the digital age.

At the opening ceremony and related side events, the National Data Administration took center stage. During the event, the Administration made major announcements regarding significant achievements in areas such as tokens, data annotation, data infrastructure, and the cultivation of digital talent. The release of these achievements not only marks a solid step forward in China's foundational institutional development for data elements but also provides new solutions to core pain points such as the difficulties in confirming data rights, pricing data, and facilitating data circulation. As a new benchmark for measuring data value in the era of large models, tokens are becoming a key to unlocking the potential of data elements. Meanwhile, robust data infrastructure and the cultivation of high-quality digital talent provide a solid foundation and intellectual support for the implementation of this new pathway.

The professional exhibition area of this year's Expo is thoughtfully divided into five core zones: Computing Infrastructure, Data Supply, Model-Driven Applications, Security Safeguard, and Intelligent Experience, showcasing the most cutting-edge big data technologies and a wide range of scenario-based applications. In the Computing Infrastructure zone, major exhibitors presented advanced computing power networks and green data center solutions to support massive data processing, echoing the strategic deployment of the national "East Data, West Computing" project. The Data Supply zone focuses on the authorized operation of public data and the development of high-quality datasets, exploring how to unblock the main arteries of data circulation and promote cutting-edge practices such as recording data assets in financial statements. The Model-Driven Applications zone vividly demonstrates how generative AI and large model technologies empower diverse industries, from industrial manufacturing to financial risk control, driving intelligent industrial transformation. The Security Safeguard zone highlights cutting-edge security technologies such as privacy-preserving computing and blockchain traceability, ensuring the safe and compliant circulation of data elements. Finally, the Intelligent Experience zone offers immersive interactive experiences, allowing visitors to intuitively feel the extensive application of big data in people's livelihood sectors such as smart transportation, smart healthcare, and smart cities, painting a beautiful picture of digital life.

The Big Data Expo has been held in Guiyang for consecutive years, which not only highlights Guiyang's strength as the country's first National Big Data Comprehensive Pilot Zone but also serves as an important microcosm of China's big data industry development strategy. In recent years, leveraging its unique natural conditions and policy advantages, Guizhou has achieved remarkable success in building computing hub nodes and cultivating the data elements market. Hosting this year's Expo has further gathered top-tier minds and industrial resources in the global digital economy, providing an international platform for domestic and foreign enterprises to exchange technologies, cooperate on projects, and translate achievements into practical applications.

As data elements increasingly become a new factor of production, their role in amplifying, superimposing, and multiplying economic development is becoming ever more prominent. The grand opening of the 2026 China International Big Data Industry Expo is not only a premier showcase of technology and industry but also serves as a rallying call to advance into a new phase of unlocking the value of data elements. The Expo will continue until the 30th. The general public and industry professionals are invited to visit the site, experience up close the disruptive changes brought by big data technology, and witness together a new chapter in China's digital economy as it strides toward high-quality development.
