2026 Indonesia Trade Expo Opens; $13.2 Billion in MoUs Signed

Several Cabinet Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Indonesia gathered at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE BSD) in Tangerang, Banten Province, on October 14, 2026, to attend the grand opening ceremony of Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2026. As one of the country's largest comprehensive international trade exhibitions, TEI serves not only as a vital window for Indonesia to showcase its economic resilience and industrial strengths, but also as a crucial bridge connecting domestic enterprises with global supply chains, attracting widespread attention from the global industry.

Delivering a keynote speech at the opening ceremony, Minister of Trade Budi Santoso announced that Indonesian exporters would sign 168 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with prospective buyers from 22 countries on the opening day, with a total value of USD 13.2 billion. "Today, exporters will officially sign 168 MoUs with buyers from 22 countries, with a total transaction value reaching USD 13.2 billion," Minister Santoso stated at the opening ceremony held at ICE BSD in Tangerang, Banten. These impressive figures not only underscore the international competitiveness of Indonesian products but also reflect the global market's high recognition of the country's premium goods.

Minister Santoso noted that the signing of these high-profile MoUs was made possible by the dedicated efforts and active support of the Indonesian Trade Promotion Centers (ITPCs) and overseas trade commissioners, who have maintained close contact and in-depth negotiations with prospective global buyers, laying a solid foundation for the successful hosting of the expo. TEI 2026 has set an ambitious target of USD 17.5 billion in transaction value, expecting to attract 1,873 exhibitors and 30,000 professional visitors, striving to inject strong momentum into Indonesia's foreign trade against the backdrop of post-pandemic economic recovery.

The Minister further revealed the buyer registration statistics for the expo. To date, 16,885 professional buyers have registered to attend, including 8,092 international buyers from 134 countries, demonstrating the expo's strong international appeal. "The product portfolio showcased at this trade expo is incredibly diverse, covering food and beverages, agricultural products, industrial manufactured goods, fashion and handicrafts, as well as furniture, home decor, and various industrial products designed to attract global investors," he elaborated. This rich array of exhibits not only meets diversified sourcing requirements but also provides a stage for Indonesia's traditional pillar industries and emerging manufacturing sectors to compete side by side.

Alongside promoting economic and trade cooperation, the Ministry of Trade will also hold a grand awards ceremony during the expo. The Ministry will present the "Primaniyarta Award" to recognize outstanding exporters and regional leaders who have made exceptional contributions to the nation's export performance. In addition, the "Primaduta Award" will be presented to international partners, the Indonesian diaspora, and heads of overseas representative offices who have actively promoted Indonesian products. "We have also specially established the 'Campuspreneur Award' to recognize the university that achieves the highest transaction value during this trade expo, encouraging the younger generation to engage in international trade," Santoso added. This initiative highlights Indonesia's strong emphasis on nurturing and cultivating future business leaders while promoting economic and trade development.

TEI 2026 is being held at ICE BSD in Tangerang from October 14 to 18. Looking back at the previous edition, the potential transaction value reached USD 22.83 billion, attracting 1,619 exhibitors, 8,045 buyers, and 34,550 visitors. In comparison, this year's expo has achieved significant growth in the number of exhibitors, the scale of international buyers, and the projected transaction value. This comprehensive scale upgrade fully demonstrates Indonesia's robust vitality and broad prospects on the international trade stage, writing a remarkable chapter in deepening regional economic integration and global economic and trade cooperation.
