The global shipbuilding and shipping industries are currently entering a phase of high-quality development, with the green and low-carbon transition deepening continuously, and smart and digital technologies emerging as key forces reshaping the industry landscape. Against this backdrop, the 4th Fujian International Marine Equipment Expo 2026 grandly opened in Fuzhou, Fujian on October 16. Leveraging Fujian's unique marine resources and solid industrial foundation, this year's expo strives to create a global networking hub for the deep integration of industrial and supply chains, building a high-level platform for global marine economic cooperation.
Spanning four days, the expo is themed "Navigating Green and Smart, Connecting the Deep Blue," precisely addressing the core demands of the industry's transformation. Covering a total exhibition area of 100,000 square meters, it features 11 specialized zones and five major thematic sub-exhibitions, including boats and equipment, offshore energy, and marine engineering technology and equipment. The event has attracted 818 enterprises from 26 countries and regions as well as 27 provinces and cities across China. Over 7,000 marine equipment products and technological achievements were unveiled, creating a vibrant atmosphere for business matchmaking and demonstrating the global industry's strong confidence in the market prospects for marine equipment.
To deepen international exchanges, the expo introduced Norway and Indonesia as its dual Guest Countries of Honor for the first time. The Norway Pavilion brought together world-class enterprises such as Kongsberg Maritime and Höegh to showcase cutting-edge technologies and share their expertise in high-end marine engineering and green shipping. The Indonesia Pavilion focused on displaying its experience in bulk cargo transport and port logistics. On-site, numerous enterprises reached preliminary cooperation intentions in areas such as ship repair and green fuel supply. Meanwhile, the BRICS Innovation Base Pavilion gathered key domestic and international enterprises including Petrobras, alongside industry giants like Siemens and ABB, as well as major international classification societies, creating a global stage for marine equipment technology competition. As the Guest Province, Guangdong organized 22 enterprises to participate. Harbin Engineering University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, as the Guest Universities, showcased a wealth of cutting-edge marine sci-tech innovations, effectively promoting the deep integration of industry, academia, research, and application.
This year's expo presented innovation achievements across ultimate dimensions: ultra-large, ultra-smart, ultra-green, ultra-small, ultra-light, and ultra-precise. For instance, Dongfang Electric's independently developed 26-megawatt offshore wind turbine, the world's largest of its kind, set a new world record, providing stronger momentum for deep-sea wind power development. Zhiyou Wujie's self-developed intelligent hull painting robot enables autonomous painting operations, significantly improving coating efficiency and environmental performance. The Wärtsilä 31DF dual-fuel engine, certified by Guinness World Records as the most efficient four-stroke diesel engine, has set a new benchmark for green power. Additionally, hard-core products such as Xinghe Electronics' first domestic dedicated chip for LEO navigation augmentation were also showcased, further solidifying the information infrastructure foundation for marine equipment.
This year marks the 160th anniversary of the founding of the Fujian Ship Administration, and the century-old shipbuilding spirit is being revitalized in the modern marine equipment industry. The Fujian Pavilion features three major thematic zones: high-tech and electric vessels, modern marine fishery equipment, and offshore wind power. It brings together industry leaders such as CATL and China Three Gorges Group to showcase hard-core products like the ship-shore-cloud integrated solution. This is not only a tribute to its historical heritage but also a comprehensive demonstration of Fujian's latest achievements in building a modern marine industry system and taking the lead in achieving self-reliance and strength in marine science and technology.
In terms of industrial matchmaking, the expo proved highly pragmatic and efficient. A total of 246 overseas enterprises from 46 countries and regions submitted over 1,000 procurement demands. During the event, 695 international buyer-supplier matchmaking sessions were held, building a precise bridge between supply and demand. The concurrent "48+N" event framework focused on six core tracks, including green and low-carbon development, advanced manufacturing, and deep-sea engineering, supplemented by technical exchanges and new product launches. This series of high-profile events not only provided a feast of intellectual exchange but also accelerated the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, injecting strong momentum into the high-quality development of the global marine equipment industry.
