The 2026 Shanghai Book Fair runs from August 12 to 18, with dual main venues at Shanghai Exhibition Center and Shanghai Book City, themed The Fragrance of Books Reaches Far. Despite Typhoon Baihaitun, setup continued intensively. At 3:30 AM on August 10, all staff at Xinhua logistics park reported for duty, with 14 truckloads of books arriving safely by 5 AM in the rain. 112 employees and 30+ volunteers completed the transfer, unpacking and display with over ten layers of protective film, with not a single book getting wet.
The fair further expands the Dual Main Venues + X + N model, with sub-venues across all 16 districts, hosting approximately 1,420 events. Authors including Mo Yan, Liang Xiaosheng, Chi Zijian, Ma Boyong and Zijin Chen will attend. Guest province is Heilongjiang. The Shanghai International Literary Week runs concurrently with French mystery author Paul Halter and other overseas writers visiting. Eleven publishers jointly launched 60,000 co-branded consumption vouchers.
