2026 IWWF Cable Waterski World Championship Opens in Beijing, First Time in China

The 2026 IWWF Cable Waterski World Championship is being held at Shunyi Olympic Water Park in Beijing, the first time in China. The championship gathers 180 top athletes from 30 countries and regions, with venues upgraded to IWWF international standards, leveraging the 2008 Beijing Olympics water sports legacy.

Zhan Hui, Director of the Water Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport, stated that hosting the championship fills the gap in high-end international cable waterski events in China and is a key opportunity to revitalize the Olympic legacy.

The first Shunyi 808 Wave Festival runs concurrently (July 25 - August 18), with daytime competition viewing and evening electronic music markets, upgrading the professional event into a public carnival.
