On August 13, 2026, the 13th Bangladesh Yarn, Fabrics and Accessories Show 2026 officially opened at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka. As a premier trade event in the apparel supply chain sector in Bangladesh and the broader South Asian region, the four-day expo brings together over 150 renowned domestic and international enterprises to showcase the latest yarns, fabrics, garment trims and accessories, and related products. It aims to build an efficient platform for localized sourcing and direct engagement with international suppliers for Bangladesh's massive Ready-Made Garment (RMG) industry.
Organized by ASK Trade and Exhibitions, the four-day event features a comprehensive display of various yarns and blended yarns for woven and knitted garments, alongside a diverse range of fabric products, including wool and suiting fabrics, printed fabrics, activewear fabrics, and home furnishing fabrics. Additionally, a dedicated zone for trims and modern processing technologies highlights various garment accessories and advanced techniques such as embroidery and heat transfer printing. These exhibits precisely cater to the diverse needs of Bangladeshi garment manufacturers, exporters, international buying houses, and fabric processors, helping them explore superior sourcing options and optimize their supply chain structures. Amid the sustained growth of the global fast fashion and athleisure markets, the showcases of activewear and home furnishing fabrics have been particularly eye-catching, providing local enterprises with valuable insights into international consumer trends.
The opening ceremony was vibrant, bringing together numerous key leaders from Bangladesh's apparel and textile industries. Mohammad Hatem, President of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), attended as the guest of honor and delivered a keynote address. Joining him as guests of honor to witness this industry milestone were Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice Chancellor of BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT); Kazi Mizanur Rahman, Director of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA); Md. Shahriar, President of the Bangladesh Garment Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGAPMEA); Masud Ali Khan, Vice President of the Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCCI); and Mehedi Hasan Bhuiyan, President of the Bangladesh Merchandisers and Suppliers Association (BMSA).
In his opening remarks, BKMEA President Mohammad Hatem provided an in-depth analysis of the opportunities and challenges currently facing Bangladesh's garment manufacturing industry. He emphasized the irreplaceable and critical role of government policy support in boosting domestic investment and promoting industrial growth. "While actively attracting foreign investment, we must ensure a favorable business environment to retain our existing domestic investors," Hatem noted. He specifically called on relevant government authorities to further streamline certification processes and improve approval efficiency, making them more convenient and faster. "If we can successfully retain existing investors, it will unlock more new investment opportunities and create a substantial number of jobs in the future," he reiterated. His remarks resonated strongly with the audience, underscoring the industry's urgent need for an optimized policy environment.
As the world's second-largest apparel exporter, Bangladesh relies on its RMG sector as the pillar of its national economy. However, with the restructuring of global supply chains and the ever-rising demands from international buyers regarding product quality, environmental standards, and lead times, Bangladeshi garment enterprises urgently need to upgrade the sourcing quality of fabrics and trims at the source. The hosting of this expo is precisely in line with this trend of industrial upgrading. By bringing together over 150 high-quality domestic and international suppliers, the expo has not only broken down information barriers, enabling local manufacturers to access cutting-edge international yarn and fabric resources in a more cost-effective manner, but also opened the door for international suppliers to enter Bangladesh's massive market.
The expo is open to professional trade visitors, with daily visiting hours from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Over the remaining three days, the event will continue to inject new momentum into the sustainable development of Bangladesh's RMG sector, helping it advance toward higher value-added segments in the global value chain.
