On September 3, the 2026 China (Taiyuan) International Energy Industry Expo officially opened at the Xiaohe International Conference and Exhibition Center in Shanxi Province. Themed "Carbon Neutrality Leads Energy Transition, Innovation Accelerates a Green Future," this year's Expo has set new records in both scale and exhibitor lineup, establishing a professional and international cooperation platform for the domestic and global energy sectors that integrates technology exhibitions, academic exchanges, and business matchmaking. Running until September 6, the Expo provides a comprehensive showcase of cutting-edge trends and innovative achievements in the global energy industry.
As China's first province-wide comprehensive pilot zone for the energy revolution, Shanxi Province has achieved remarkable progress in energy transition in recent years. The province has coordinated efforts to promote the clean and efficient utilization of coal alongside the large-scale expansion of new energy, accelerating the optimization and upgrading of its energy mix. Data shows that by 2025, the installed capacity of new and clean energy in Shanxi reached 90.484 million kilowatts, accounting for 55.1% of the province's total power installed capacity. This marks a historic milestone where new and clean energy capacity surpassed coal power for the first time, signaling a fundamental shift in the energy supply landscape. The Expo serves as a vital window to systematically showcase Shanxi's latest achievements in energy transition, green development, and industrial upgrading, while also providing a valuable practical model for the comprehensive energy revolution reform nationwide.
Aligning closely with the national strategy for energy security and the requirements for building a new energy system, the Expo focuses on core areas such as the energy revolution, green and low-carbon development, digital-intelligent integration, and open cooperation. Covering a total exhibition area of 60,000 square meters, the event brings together 467 domestic and international enterprises. Organized into three major sections—Achievements, Comprehensive, and Professional—the Expo features ten meticulously curated exhibition zones: Energy Transition and Development, International, Integrated Energy, New Energy and New Power Systems, Computing-Power and Electricity Synergy, Energy Industry Chain Clusters, Intelligent Energy Equipment, Heavy Trucks and Battery Swapping and Charging, Energy Finance, and New Energy Vehicles. These zones comprehensively cover all critical links across the upstream and downstream of the energy industry chain.
Notably, the Computing-Power and Electricity Synergy, New Energy and New Power Systems, and Heavy Trucks and Battery Swapping and Charging zones are newly established for this Expo. These new zones concentrate on showcasing cutting-edge technologies and innovative application scenarios, including the integration of source, grid, load, and energy storage; integrated development of wind, solar, storage, and hydrogen; smart grids; virtual power plants; and green transportation. Precisely aligned with the current trends of digitalization and green transformation in the energy sector, they have attracted significant attention from professional visitors and industry experts.
In terms of open cooperation, the Expo's international network of partners continues to expand, marking a significant elevation in the level of openness and collaboration. The event has attracted over 40 international enterprises from 10 countries, including the United States, Switzerland, and France, featuring industry giants such as Tesla, ABB, and Schneider Electric. Notably, Indonesia has organized a national pavilion for the first time, further underscoring the international influence and appeal of the Taiyuan Energy Expo.
The domestic exhibitor lineup is equally formidable, showcasing the backbone of China's energy industry. Central state-owned enterprises such as Aluminum Corporation of China, State Grid, China National Coal Group, China Huadian, China Datang, China Three Gorges, and Energy China, alongside key provincial SOEs including Jinneng Holding, Shanxi Coking Coal, Lu'an Chemical, Huayang Group, Shanxi Construction Investment, and Shanxi Transportation Control, are presenting their latest offerings.
