Indonesia EDRR Disaster Reduction Expo Held in Jakarta, 80+ Companies Showcase Cutting-Edge Tech

From August 12 to 14, 2026, the Emergency Disaster Reduction & Rescue (EDRR) Expo Indonesia 2026, an international professional exhibition dedicated to disaster mitigation, rescue, and emergency equipment, officially commenced at JIExpo Kemayoran in Jakarta. As a specialized B2B platform, this year's EDRR Indonesia expo has brought together over 80 renowned domestic and international enterprises, showcasing a comprehensive range of future-oriented cutting-edge technologies, advanced equipment, and sophisticated safety management systems. The event aims to comprehensively enhance global and regional preparedness against natural disasters.

The grand opening ceremony was held on August 12. Pratikno, Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs, attended the event and declared the expo open. This significant moment was witnessed by a host of high-ranking government and military officials, including Deputy Minister of Health Dante Saksono Harbuwono; Head of the National Search and Rescue Agency (BASARNAS) Mohammad Syafii; Head of the Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) Teuku Faisal Fathani; Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Suharyanto; Deputy Coordinating Minister for Disaster and Social Conflict Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Lilik Kurniawan; Deputy Chief of Staff for Territorial Affairs Suhardi; and Assistant Chief of Police for Operations M. Fadil Imran. Also in attendance were industry and institutional representatives, including Andy Wismarsyah, CEO of Seven Event; Fiona Bai, Vice President of SIEC-CPIT Shanghai; Rahmad Widjaja Sakti, Deputy Secretary-General of the Indonesian Chinese Chamber of Commerce (KADIN KIKT); and Huacheng Zeng, Deputy Director of the Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce of China.

In his opening address, Coordinating Minister Pratikno emphasized the core value of technological applications and early warning systems in practical rescue operations. He stated, "The Indonesian people coexist with natural disasters, with our country facing nearly 5,000 disaster events each year. Therefore, we call on all parties to strengthen 'Early Warning Response Actions.' Early warnings are only meaningful when accompanied by early action. We must never allow cutting-edge technology to remain confined to control rooms; information must be translated into concrete actions that save lives."

Pratikno further outlined Indonesia's ambitious strategic goals in the global disaster industry. He emphasized, "Our objective is very clear: Indonesia aims to become a global 'Center of Excellence' for disaster technology, rather than merely a 'laboratory' or 'supermarket' for disasters. Indonesia is committed to achieving technological self-reliance and continuously promoting the development of the domestic disaster industry. Here, I extend an invitation to international partners and investors to engage in technology transfer, joint research, and direct investment. Let us make EDRR 2026 a space for collaboration, innovation, and learning, with the ultimate goal of saving lives."

In her speech, Fiona Bai, Vice President of SIEC-CPIT Shanghai, highlighted the importance of international cooperation and smart technology exchange in enhancing regional resilience. She stated, "Through EDRR Expo Indonesia 2026, we hope to build an efficient and sustainable bridge for cooperation, promoting technological exchange, high-level connectivity, and deep industrial integration. We aim to share mature disaster prevention experiences as well as smart, digital, and eco-friendly emergency solutions, thereby helping Indonesia and the Southeast Asian region enhance their emergency response capabilities."

The successful organization of this expo has received widespread support from various Indonesian government departments, security agencies, academic institutions, and domestic and international humanitarian organizations. Supporting entities include the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs (Kemenko PMK), Ministry of Industry (KEMENPERIN), Ministry of Health (KEMENKES), Indonesian National Police (POLRI), and the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Additional support was provided by BMKG, BNPB, the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), the Jakarta Capital Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD DKI), BASARNAS, and the Ministry of Health Crisis Center. At the academic and social organization level, the Indonesian Defense University (UNHAN RI), Budi Luhur University (UBL), LSPR Communication and Business School, the Indonesian Security and Safety Association (KAMSELINDO), the National Logistics Community (NLC), the Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C), the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), World Humanitarian Day, and the Indonesian Disaster Adaptation Foundation (YABI) all actively participated in the event.

Over the course of the three-day expo, EDRR Indonesia serves not only as a premier showcase of technology but also features 10 core strategic events focusing on enhancing disaster mitigation capabilities, occupational safety technology, emergency medical care, and transnational investment cooperation. These 10 events include the S&D Global Safety and Development Conference, the Occupational Safety Readiness Seminar (iSafety), the Early Warning Response Action Forum (AMPD), the G60 Medical Industry Cooperation Forum, the Smart Firefighting and Industrial Safety Forum, the Maritime and Archipelagic Emergency Coordination Forum, the World Humanitarian Day Forum, Business Matching sessions, a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony, and Disaster Management Training and Simulation (CPR Workshop).

Andy Wismarsyah, CEO of Seven Event, stated that hosting these seminars, workshops, and training sessions aims to comprehensively elevate the nation's disaster preparedness. He pointed out, "EDRR Expo Indonesia 2026 not only showcases innovation and advanced technologies but also creates a space for knowledge sharing, capacity building, innovation promotion, and networking through its 10 strategic events. We are committed to building an Indonesia that is better prepared, more resilient, safer, and faster in responding to all types of disaster risks."

With the showcase of modern cutting-edge technologies and the active engagement of global industry participants, EDRR Expo Indonesia 2026 is serving as a powerful engine, poised to drive a transformative leap in safety standards and emergency management capabilities across Indonesia and the broader Southeast Asian region.
