On August 21, the 2026 Shandong Education Expo grandly opened at the Shandong International Convention and Exhibition Center. Hosted by the Department of Education of Shandong Province and the People's Government of Jinan Municipality, the event is organized by the Shandong Education Development Service Center and the Jinan Municipal Education Bureau. Themed "Empowering Education with Digital Intelligence, Driving Innovative Development," the Expo spans a massive 60,000 square meters and brings together over 600 participating organizations across three core sections: the Achievement Exhibition, the Equipment Exhibition, and a series of Concurrent Events. This premier event aims to showcase the remarkable achievements in Shandong's high-quality education development since the launch of the 14th Five-Year Plan. It provides a comprehensive display of cutting-edge, scenario-based technological equipment for education and teaching, while fostering a collaborative innovation ecosystem among government, schools, industries, and enterprises. By leveraging digital intelligence as a core engine to drive a paradigm shift in education, the Expo contributes robust educational momentum to building Shandong into a province strong in education and a modernized powerhouse.

A core highlight of the Expo, the Shandong High-Quality Education Development Achievement Exhibition, themed "Building a Strong Province, Education Leads the Way," has drawn significant attention. The exhibition area features a meticulously designed Prologue Hall and four core zones dedicated to the equitable and high-quality development of basic education, the integrated advancement of education, science, technology, and talent, the development of the modern vocational education system, and the opening-up of education. It systematically and comprehensively presents the practical pathways and phased achievements at the provincial, municipal, and institutional levels in advancing and supporting the initiative to build an education powerhouse. The participating roster is impressive, featuring the Municipal Education and Sports Bureaus from all 16 prefecture-level cities, 58 regular undergraduate universities, 48 higher vocational colleges, and 33 secondary vocational schools across the province. The municipal education bureaus, joined by over a hundred primary and secondary schools and related institutions, have fully demonstrated the solid progress made in basic education regarding resource expansion, quality enhancement, and balanced development. Meanwhile, 106 higher education institutions have provided a comprehensive showcase of their outstanding performance in talent cultivation, discipline development, technological innovation, social service, and international engagement, underscoring their mission and commitment to serving economic and social development.

The Equipment Exhibition zone has brought together nearly 400 industry leaders and innovative players, including Huawei, iFLYTEK, Inspur, ZTE, and Lanbeisite. These exhibitors are showcasing comprehensive, scenario-based solutions for digital and intelligent education equipment. The exhibits span multiple cutting-edge fields, including educational technology equipment, campus logistics services, educational financial services, labor education, and study tour practices. Through immersive, scenario-based displays, the exhibition vividly illustrates the dynamic practices and boundless possibilities of modern educational technologies empowering the building of an education powerhouse. It offers attendees a visual feast highlighting the deep integration of technology and education, vividly demonstrating how digital and intelligent transformation is profoundly reshaping traditional teaching models.

Spanning three days, the Expo features a rich and diverse program. Concurrent with the Expo, over a dozen high-profile parallel events are being held, including the Finals of the National Youth Science Experiment Competition, the "AI + Education" Innovation and Practice Conference, the Release of Outstanding Achievements from Shandong Universities, and the Experience Sharing Session of the Yellow River Basin Educational Technology Equipment Collaborative Development Alliance. Leading experts and scholars have gathered for in-depth discussions on a wide range of topics, including the organization of national competitions, campus catering management, green and low-carbon development, innovation and entrepreneurship education, study tour practices for primary and secondary schools, smart sports, and the integration of industry and education. These events have not only fostered a vibrant exchange of ideas but also further bridged the gap between theoretical research, technological R&D, and on-campus applications, effectively translating cutting-edge technologies into tangible educational outcomes. Notably, the "AI + Education" Innovation and Practice Conference delved into the practical implementation of emerging technologies such as generative AI in educational scenarios, offering forward-looking guidance for the evolution of future educational paradigms.

Today, the digital transformation of education has emerged as a key engine driving high-quality educational development. By hosting this Education Expo, Shandong Province has not only established a premier platform for showcasing achievements, exchanging experiences, and fostering cooperation, but also sent a strong signal to the world about its commitment to leading educational innovation through digital intelligence. Looking ahead, Shandong will continue to advance the integrated development of education, science, technology, and talent, accelerate the development of the modern vocational education system, and further open up education to the world, striving to write a new chapter in building a province strong in education.
