On September 11, the 18th Hunan Tea Expo 2026 officially opened at the Hunan International Convention Center. Running through September 14, the expo is open to the public free of charge, offering citizens and tea enthusiasts a grand gala that integrates economic and trade cooperation, cultural exchange, and industry showcasing. As the largest, most prestigious, and most influential comprehensive exhibition in Hunan's tea sector, the full-scale launch of this year's expo not only highlights the latest achievements in the high-quality development of the province's tea industry but also provides a highly efficient platform for exchange and cooperation for the tea community across China and beyond.

The expo features an expansive scale, covering a total exhibition area of 30,000 square meters. To provide an optimal exhibition environment, the event has been meticulously configured with 800 standard booths and 150 custom-built booths. In terms of exhibitors, the expo has brought together over 1,500 tea industry and supply chain enterprises from home and abroad, presenting the latest products and cutting-edge technologies across the entire industry chain—from tea cultivation, processing, and packaging to tea machinery manufacturing and the development of tea-derived products. Notably, delegations from all 14 cities and prefectures across the province, along with 58 key tea-producing counties, have made a strong collective appearance, fully demonstrating the robust momentum of province-wide synergy and clustered development in Hunan's tea sector. Through their meticulously designed custom-built booths, these regional delegations have seamlessly integrated local premium teas with the profound heritage of tea culture, making them the center of attention on the show floor.

In terms of zoning, the expo has strategically designed seven specialized exhibition zones covering major tea categories such as green, black, dark, white, and oolong teas, as well as derivative sectors including tea sets, tea spaces, and tea technology. This specialized layout not only facilitates precise matchmaking for professional buyers but also allows general visitors to systematically appreciate the breadth and depth of Chinese tea culture.

Beyond its extensive trade and business exhibitions, the expo has also placed significant emphasis on cultural promotion and public engagement. It has prominently featured intangible cultural heritage tea culture performances for the public, inviting national and provincial-level inheritors of intangible cultural heritage to demonstrate traditional tea-making techniques on site, allowing attendees to experience up close the unique charm of artisanal tea making. Meanwhile, to inherit and promote tea culture, the expo has specially curated the "Little Tea Masters Explore the Grand Tea Expo" parent-child educational tour, using an edutainment approach to sow the seeds of tea culture in the hearts of the younger generation. Additionally, an on-site traditional Chinese-style tea culture experience zone has been set up, blending traditional Hanfu, classical musical instruments, and the art of tea tasting to create an immersive cultural tea space for visitors, significantly enhancing the expo's cultural appeal and interactive experience.

As a major tea-producing province in China, Hunan boasts a long history and profound heritage in the tea industry. In recent years, Hunan Province has attached great importance to the development of its tea industry, leveraging it as a key driver for rural revitalization and agricultural modernization. The collective appearance of delegations from all 14 cities and prefectures and 58 key tea-producing counties across the province serves as a comprehensive showcase of the achievements in building regional public brands for Hunan's tea industry. From early-season teas in southern Hunan to green teas in the west, from yellow teas by Lake Dongting to dark teas from Anhua, Hunan's tea industry is securing an increasingly prominent position in both national and international markets through its diversified and high-quality development.

The hosting of this expo is not only a grand industry event but also a vital opportunity to boost consumer confidence and stimulate domestic circulation within the tea industry. The policy of free public admission has greatly sparked citizens' enthusiasm for visiting the expo. On opening day, the Hunan International Convention Center was bustling with visitors and filled with the rich aroma of tea. Families flocked to the expo to taste premium teas and purchase tea products, while immersing themselves in the unique charm of tea culture. This "expo plus consumption" model has effectively bridged the gap between the tea industry and everyday consumers, directly helping tea enterprises expand in the domestic market and elevate brand awareness.

With over a thousand enterprises gathering and seven major exhibition zones shining in tandem, the 18th Hunan Tea Expo 2026 is writing a new chapter in the high-quality development of Hunan's tea industry through its open posture, professional services, and rich content. As the expo progresses, it will surely facilitate more economic and trade cooperation and spread more stories of tea culture, contributing Hunan's strength to the global outreach of China's tea industry.
