2026 China (Taiyuan) International Energy Industry Expo Opens in Taiyuan, Bringing Together 467 Companies to Explore Energy Transition

New Energy

On September 3, the 2026 China (Taiyuan) International Energy Industry Expo officially opened at the Shanxi Xiaohe International Convention and Exhibition Center. Themed "Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality Driving Energy Transition, Innovation Accelerating a Green Future," this year's expo has set new records in both exhibition scale and exhibitor lineup, establishing a professional and international platform that integrates technology showcases, exchange seminars, and business matchmaking for the domestic and global energy industries.

As the nation's first province-wide pilot zone for comprehensive reform of the energy revolution, Shanxi has achieved remarkable results in recent years in coordinating the clean and efficient utilization of coal with the large-scale expansion of new energy, accelerating the optimization and upgrading of its energy structure. Data shows that by 2025, the province's installed capacity of new and clean energy reached 90.484 million kilowatts, accounting for a record 55.1% of the total provincial power installed capacity. Surpassing coal power installed capacity for the first time, this marks a historic shift in the province's energy supply landscape. The expo serves as a vital window to systematically showcase Shanxi's latest achievements in energy transition, green development, and industrial upgrading, providing a vivid practical model for the national comprehensive reform of the energy revolution.

Closely aligned with the national new energy security strategy and the requirements for building a new energy system, this year's expo focuses on core areas such as the energy revolution, green and low-carbon development, digital-intelligent integration, and open cooperation. Covering a total exhibition area of 60,000 square meters, the event is structured around three major sections—Achievements, Comprehensive, and Professional—and features ten meticulously curated exhibition zones: Energy Transition and Development, International, Integrated Energy, New Energy and New Power Systems, Computing-Power and Electricity Synergy, Energy Industry Chain Clusters, Intelligent Energy Equipment, Heavy-Duty Trucks and Battery Swapping and Charging, Energy Finance, and New Energy Vehicles, comprehensively covering key upstream and downstream segments of the energy industry chain. Notably, the zones for Computing-Power and Electricity Synergy, New Energy and New Power Systems, and Heavy-Duty Trucks and Battery Swapping and Charging are newly established for the first time. They concentrate on showcasing cutting-edge technologies and innovative application scenarios such as source-grid-load-storage integration, wind-solar-storage-hydrogen integrated development, smart grids, virtual power plants, and green transportation, demonstrating the energy industry's firm stride toward digitalization and green transformation.

In terms of open cooperation, the expo's international circle of partners continues to expand, significantly elevating the level of openness and collaboration. More than 40 international enterprises from 10 countries, including the United States, Switzerland, and France, have gathered at the event. These include industry giants such as Tesla, ABB, and Schneider Electric. Notably, Indonesia has made its debut with a national delegation, further broadening and deepening international energy cooperation.

The domestic lineup is equally formidable, demonstrating the robust resilience of China's energy industry. Central state-owned enterprises such as Aluminum Corporation of China, State Grid, China National Coal Group, China Huadian, China Datang, China Three Gorges, and Energy China have made a strong presence, alongside key provincial state-owned enterprises including Jinneng Holding, Shanxi Coking Coal, Lu'an Chemical, Huayang Group, Shanxi Construction Investment, and Shanxi Transportation Control. Meanwhile, industry leaders such as Huawei, SANY, CATL, Sungrow, and JinkoSolar are showcasing side by side, continuously expanding the space for synergistic cooperation in the energy sector and jointly promoting the deep integration of upstream and downstream industry chains.

Beyond the core exhibitions, the expo is accompanied by a series of specialized events, including the Conference on Engineering Applications of Unmanned Mining Trucks, the Roundtable Dialogue for Foreign-Invested Enterprises, the Precision Matchmaking Conference for the Industrial Chain of Intelligent Equipment for Coal and Coalbed Methane, and the Energy International Cooperation and Exchange Matchmaking. These events aim to accelerate the translation of the expo's technological, resource, and talent advantages into tangible industrial cooperation and project implementation, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of the energy sector.

It is reported that the Energy Expo will run until September 6. During this period, experts, scholars, and corporate representatives from the global energy sector will gather to discuss new trends in energy transition and chart a new future for green development.
