CoreNews.id, Jakarta — The Indonesian Ministry of Trade has set an ambitious transaction target of USD 17.5 billion, approximately IDR 313.34 trillion, for Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2026. As the country's premier national export exhibition, TEI has long served as a vital showcase for Indonesia's economic potential. This highly anticipated international trade event officially opened on Wednesday, October 14, at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD in Tangerang. Boasting world-class, state-of-the-art facilities, the venue provides an exceptional platform for this year's edition. Indonesian Minister of Trade Budi Santoso was in attendance to personally inaugurate the event.
During the opening ceremony of TEI 2026, the Indonesian government also announced a major milestone: Indonesian exporters successfully signed 168 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with prospective buyers from 22 countries. These partnership agreements are valued at a total of USD 13.2 billion, or approximately IDR 236.09 trillion. In his address, Minister Budi Santoso emphasized that these business achievements were made possible by the tireless efforts of the Indonesian Trade Promotion Centers (ITPC) and overseas trade attaches. Through extensive market research and business matching in advance, they actively identified, precisely connected, and carefully facilitated the participation of prospective buyers in global markets, laying a solid foundation for the success of this year's expo.
TEI 2026 is unprecedented in scale, bringing together 1,873 exhibitors. As of the opening day, the event had registered 16,885 professional buyers, including 8,092 international buyers from 134 countries and regions, fully demonstrating the expo's international footprint. The exhibition features a diverse array of products spanning core industries such as food and beverage, agriculture, manufacturing, fashion, handicrafts, furniture, and home decor, highlighting high-value-added products that meet international green and sustainable standards. Additionally, a dedicated industrial zone pavilion has been specially established to showcase Indonesia's infrastructure and industrial policies, aiming to further attract foreign investment and support the nation's industrial downstreaming strategy.
Beyond its commitment to expanding bilateral and multilateral trade, the Indonesian government also held a grand award ceremony during the event. The Ministry of Trade presented the prestigious Primaniyarta Award to outstanding exporters and the Primaduta Award to partners who have actively supported the overseas promotion of Indonesian products, thereby setting industry benchmarks. Notably, to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship among the younger generation, the Ministry of Trade introduced the inaugural Campuspreneur Award at this year's expo, specifically recognizing higher education institutions that achieved the highest transaction volumes. This initiative not only provides university students with a practical platform but also cultivates a future workforce with a global perspective for Indonesia's foreign trade sector.
TEI 2026 will run for five days, from October 14 to 18, at ICE BSD. Throughout the event, in addition to intensive product showcases and business negotiations, a series of industry forums will be held to provide comprehensive business support for exhibitors. Through this high-profile international trade platform, the Indonesian government aims to not only broaden market access for domestic enterprises but also comprehensively enhance the global competitiveness of Indonesian-made products, injecting strong momentum into the country's sustained economic growth.
